Our Story

Vintage Lily Farms 1 1

As long as I can remember we made all our kids go on drives in the country. They didn’t always love it. It was more like a groan and “not again”. We have always craved that peaceful, romanticized view of living life in the country. Providing as much food for ourselves as possible, working hard, teaching our children to work and enjoying the beauty of the land. We have been trying to achieve that life for years. About 5 years ago we were lucky enough to purchase a home on 1/2 acre with no animal restrictions. We were finally on our way. We got horses, goats, chickens, ducks, bunnies and started a small orchard and garden. We loved it! But it was just not quite enough. Then a little over a year ago, we drove past our current property that is just under 5 acres and we said, “Let’s just take a look!” That is always a dangerous statement. So 6 weeks later we had sold our previous house and moved into this amazing, but neglected property! So now we are living that dream! Working hard to achieve our vision of what this place can be.

Our vision of this life before was definitely romanticized. It’s a lot more work and the results take a bit longer to see. But we are loving every minute of taking care of and raising the animals, developing a U-pick field of fruits and flowers, building a large garden and gazing at the stars. Most of our children are grown, but hopefully we instilled in them a love for the outdoors, animals and being self-sufficient. Even though its mostly just us, that is okay, because it was always our dream, not necessarily theirs. And I am a firm believer that no matter how long it takes you to achieve your dreams or how old you are, you should always keep trying! Come visit us anytime and we’ll give you a tour of our little piece of a messy, sometimes stinky, peaceful heaven!
